Keep going. Instagram inspired not intimidated.

After fixing my pen I got a lot of drawings done and am now nearly finished with my Doodle Book. It is a satisfying book to thumb through because I have been working on it slowly but steadily for months now and the book actually dates back a few years and has some old sketches from back then in it as well. They are so bad! Such bad drawings. I get discouraged drawing easily and often, especially when I look at all the talent and success on Instagram. But all I need to do is look at myself and know that I will get there. I have already come so far. The art on Instagram is super inspiring and I am so glad to be following all these talented artists. But I can't let intimidation rule. Keep going. Keep working hard and I will get where I need to go.

Jamaica Plain Open Studios this Weekend!

The JP Open Studios are this weekend September 20th and 21st all around the JP neighborhood that I and work in. You can find me with my work inside at the UU church by the JP monument in Central JP and some of my work will still be hanging at Hatched until the end of the month. I will be be sketching and painting, will have my woodblock prints along with a couple of carved blocks for demos throughout the weekend. I have been looking forward to this weekend for months now. There will be some fresh prints, including new collagraphs, but this is the year that I decided to teach myself watercolor and became smitten with the medium.

About six months ago I decided to teach myself watercolor. Feeling ready to go outside the sketchbook and onto good paper just in time for JP Open Studios.

Throwback Thursday - Etsy Artist Trading Cards

I traded for a lot of art and jewelry on Etsy back before my eldest daughter was born in 2007. Full sized work but also a number of small artist trading cards or ATC that I framed together and hung in my studio. It is like a little glimpse of artists hanging out together in a small frame.  I love it and I want more! A 2014 collection?

Saturday Share : The Jealous Curator (Danielle Krysa)

I picked up the book The Creative Block by the popular blogger The Jealous Curator, also known as Danielle Kysa. But as the Jealous Curator is how most of us that follow her online know her. Truth is I have been traveling so much and haven't wanted to bring such a beautiful large book such as The Creative Block with me so I haven't done more with the book than thumb through it at this point. But I follow her blog daily and that was perfect when we were on the road a week ago.

I will get to all these wonderful projects eventually!
